January 13th was our deadline for all . We had already passed the deadline for options structural changes like the morning room, extended master and the elevation (10 days after contract). This deadline (30 days after contract) included things like kitchen layout, bath layout, trim options and fireplace. This was also the deadline to make any changes in our color and finish selections.
Our selections are outlined on the options page, but below are two that were particularly hard for us. We changed our minds several times on whether to upgrade from carpet to solid flooring in the great room. One of the hardest decisions was the fireplace. While we love a fireplace, the beautiful wall of windows in the great room is hard to give up. Final answer? Hard floor and a fireplace.

We are going through that now! We want to extend the morning room but it’s a $9k upgrade so debating on not doing a fireplace or going with a less expensive elevation. We are supposed to meet to talk about options next week because we have a ton of questions about what’s available and the cost. I wish we had asked more before signing the contract but it was the last day of the month and we had to make a decision fast or else their $14k options discount expired.

I feel for you! It’s stressful to make such big decisions under the time crunch. In our case, certain things were included in the base price because of square footage and exterior requirements in our development so we didn’t have to make the call on the two extensions and stone. But even with those decided, I can’t tell you how many iterations of making the selections, totally them up, shuffling then repeating we went through! If you want to see any specific pictures, let me know and I’ll get them posted. Hoping to add pics to the options page in the next couple weeks as things complete.
